Relentless IQ → #31 [2026] →Confidence comes from preparation.

Relentless IQ is your weekly dose of mental + physical performance.

Insight

There’s a unique confidence that comes when you show up on race day knowing that you’ve done the work. It’s real, it’s earned, and you can’t fake it.

That doesn’t guarantee victory- but it does give you peace of mind knowing that you did everything you could to prepare for the moment.

I remember when I lined up at the start of my first 100 mile race. I’d done everything my coach had programmed for me. I’d done multiple shorter races leading up to it. I’d tested all of my gear and nutrition. I had done REALLY hard things in training, and my mental game was locked in.

So yea, I had some nerves- but I also had the confidence of knowing I had done everything I could to prepare.

I try to remember that whenever I’m taking on a new challenge- whether it’s in sport, business, or life.

Confidence doesn’t come before the work- it comes from the work.
So if you’re looking for confidence… go earn it.

Question

What could you do today that would make you more confident tomorrow?
