Insight
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve cried watching the Olympics this week.
The thrill of victory. The agony of defeat.
Athletes fighting their way back from injury to compete on the biggest stage in the world. Learning the winding paths so many Olympians took just to get there.
Watching the respect athletes have for each other - a shared understanding of what it took.
Parents celebrating with their kids from the stands. Athletes who are parents celebrating with their kids post race.
And one of the most powerful moments of the Games - Team USA men’s hockey bringing Johnny Gaudreau’s kids onto the ice to celebrate the gold their father should have been there for.
Some people might say, “It’s just sports. Why does it even matter?”
But it matters for a lot of reasons.
It reminds us what’s possible when you go all in on something that matters to you.
It reminds us that dreaming big is allowed. And that falling short isn’t failure - it’s part of the journey.
That perseverance, sacrifice, and commitment mean something and matter.
And maybe most importantly, it reminds us that there are few things in life more meaningful than being part of a team. Working toward something together. Sharing the highs and the lows and showing up for each other.
As the Olympics come to a close, these are some lessons worth holding on to.
Don’t be afraid to go all in and dream big.
Embrace the journey.
And don’t forget the power of the team around you.
