Insight

Over the weekend I did a local 5k, the Captain DeConto Memorial 5k.
It was the 25th anniversary of this race, which honors Sandwich native Gerald DeConto, who was killed on 9/11 in the attack on the Pentagon.

There were people of all ages there- all moving in his memory.
Toddlers being pushed in strollers. Kids running. Men and women in their 70s walking, and everywhere in between.

When I finished, I stood at the finish line and cheered for every single person as they came in. And you know what- it fired me up.
Some people were pushing hard, some were jogging, some were walking it in.
I give them all so much credit.

They showed up.
To honor a local hero. To move their bodies. To be part of a community.

And that’s really what it’s all about.
Yes, it's great to hit a PR or reach your fitness goal- but the real victory is in being able to show up and MOVE.

We get to be here.
We get to show up.
We get to move.

Don’t take that for granted.
Enjoy it.

Question

When was the last time you appreciated what your body allows you to do?
