Insight

I met my husband at the gym about thirteen years ago. He used to work out every day… and then he started a business and that became his priority and he stopped going to the gym. 

That was- until he found something that excited him. Last fall I did a mountain bike race (two days after being on a mountain bike the first time, but that terrifying endeavor is a story for another day). 

Well it lit something in him- he grew up riding motocross, and the thought of racing mountain bikes sparked something. He realized the first step was losing weight- so he spent the fall and winter dialing in his nutrition and lost a bunch of weight.

Then around March he started riding the indoor bicycle trainer. Every day. Without fail. Sometimes at 4am before work. Sometimes when he got home at the end of the day. 

Now he's riding the local trails, becoming an absolute menace out there, and has been crushing the novice 40+ division in races.

Watching it happen has been really great. It reminded me that sometimes we don’t need more motivation, we just need something that genuinely excites us. 

Life gets busy. Maybe it’s running your business, or having kids, or any of the other zillion things that life throws in your way.

But it’s never too late to find something that makes you want to put in the work again.

And if you haven’t lost your mojo? Maybe you know someone who has.
And even though you can’t force someone into fitness- maybe you can help them find their spark.
